Men’s Fashion Advice: Let Your Coat Do The Talking →

Tweed Jackets, Bowties, Trilby hats and extremely well-tailored suits. Has Dr Who ever been more stylish? Matt Smith is certainly at the front of the queue when it comes to fashionable gents in 2011. The young actor has moved Dr who into the 21st century, and has created  his own dandy profile the process.

There are a few staple items within the Smith style, so if you are going to try to emulate the look, make sure you are never seen without them. Firstly you will need the black slim fit jeans. Smith loves to don these as part of his casual attire. The denim always gives off a very worn effect, so there is no need to go hunting for the iron on this occasion. Secondly you will need a stylish pair of Ankle boots. Boots are forever on-trend so pick up a sturdy black or dark brown pair that will still look good even when they have been beaten up a bit. Please remember that boots are not shoes, so there is no need for the polish to keep them clean and shiny. Thirdly there is the Trilby hat. Smith’s Trilby adds to his London look and makes any outfit he wears, stand out that little bit more. The rest of the Matt Smith style is based around simple pieces that are easy to find and easy to pull off. Scoop neck tee-shirts with stripes, or casual graphic tees that are not too overbearing play a huge part in the Smith wardrobe, as do Denim shirts, leather jackets, and pea coats. The Smith look is always very fitted and streamline.

Smith’s style is very East London, and at times very casual. The Brit’s evening attire is a tad more formal but still has a certain twist to it. Blazers and shirts done all the way up to the top gives off a very mod feel. Also Smith’s love for stylish neckties stands him apart within the fashion game. If you are a huge fan of colourful outfits than Matt Smith might not be the best example to follow. His look is very dark and worn, with only bits of colour making their way through via the odd accessories. Dark cropped trousers sometimes reveal colourful socks that still work well within his overall style.

Last but not least… The Hair and shades. The hair is always a focal point of the look, so pay attention to how you style yours. As to the shades, The actor is one of those men who could look good in shades even when it’s grey and raining. Watch out when trying to pull of wearing shades the whole year round. It might work for you, but then again it might not.
